Santos Skeleton watch, large model, Manufacture mechanical movement with manual winding, caliber 9612 MC. Black ADLC steel case, 7-sided crown set with a blue synthetic spinel, polished gray steel sword-shaped hands, sapphire crystal case back. Strap in black alligator leather, with black ADLC steel double adjustable folding buckle. Second strap in dark gray semi-matte alligator leather. Both bracelets are fitted with the “QuickSwitch” interchangeability system. Hours and minutes with skeletonized bridges forming Roman numerals, with luminescent material. Individually numbered movement consisting of 138 parts including 20 jewels. Movement dimensions: 28 mm x 28 mm, movement thickness: 3.97 mm, balance: 28,800 vibrations/hour, power reserve approx. 72 hours. Case width: 39.7 mm, case thickness: 9.08 mm. Water-resistant up to 10 bar (approx. 100 meters).
1904, Louis Cartier granted the wish of the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont: to be able to tell time while flying. The birth of one of the first ever wristwatches sealed the bonds of friendship between these two pioneers. The rounded angles of the dial, the seamless curve of the horns, and the exposed screws made for an iconic watch that would inspire countless reinterpretations.
