This Writers Edition ballpoint tells Goethe's story in its details: the blue precious lacquer of cap and barrel echoes both the marbled imagery of The Sorrows of Young Werther and the wallpaper of the Juno room in his Weimar home, while the barrel ring's engraving recalls a copperplate illustration from an early Werther edition.

A leaf-shaped, gold-coated clip honors Goethe's botanical studies and his theory of the archetypal plant; a clover-leaf motif around the cap top traces back to a letter to Charlotte Buff, the real-life inspiration for Werther's Lotte; and the cap itself — gently curved like a historic chemist's jar — culminates in a globe crowned by the Montblanc emblem, symbolizing Goethe's concept of "world literature."
