Need Watch Repairs? Read This First.

A luxury watch is more than just a tool for telling time. It’s a statement of your own style, and a reflection of your own personality and taste.

But as with any piece of jewelry, wear and tear is inevitable. Your luxury watch will require repair and maintenance to keep it running smoothly for many years to come.

Signs your watch is in need of repair

Inaccurate timekeeping is the first sign that your watch needs to be repaired. This can be due to a variety of factors such as magnetization, worn-out parts, or dirt collecting over time. A rattling sound can also indicate anything from loose screws to damaged gears, while condensation in the sapphire crystal signals water damage.

If your watch stops running before its expected power reserve time, it also indicates a problem with the mainspring. And if you notice any resistance when turning the crown, it means that this part will need to be adjusted or replaced.

If you notice any of these signs in your luxury watch, you’ll need to bring it over to the retailer where you bought it from or to an authorized service center to have it checked out.

Watch Maintenance Service vs Watch Repair Service

It’s important to understand the difference between a watch repair and a watch maintenance service. While a repair addresses a specific problem, a watch service involves having regular maintenance work done on the watch to protect it from wear and tear.

Brands have different instructions for service, but the general rule of thumb is to have it serviced every three to five years to keep it in top condition. However, this will also depend on how often you wear your watch. For example, if you go diving with your watch often, then your watch will require more frequent attention and testing for water resistance.

While a watch repair is necessary for unforeseen damages, regular servicing will extend the lifespan of your watch and preserve its value over time. During this process, a certified watchmaker will thoroughly examine the watch, clean it, and replace any worn-out or damaged parts. At Zadok Jewelers, our watch maintenance service is mainly concentrated on the watch case.

The seals and gaskets are checked and replaced to maintain water resistance. The case and bracelet are also cleaned, restoring your watch’s shine and luster. Additionally, the movement is inspected, lubricated, and regulated for optimal performance. We let our clients know if any work needs to be performed on the movement, and this service comes with a 1-year warranty.

Watch Refinishing Service

A step further, the refinishing service includes a complete refinishing of the watch case and bracelet to near manufacturing standards. Scratches and dents will be buffed and removed, polished surfaces will be brought back to their original shine, and satin surfaces will be brushed, while maintaining the original design to ensure texture and design shapes are kept close to the original appearance. In addition, it includes a maintenance service, to restore water resistance.

Restoration of Mechanical Vintage Movement

The complete restoration service includes all work in the complete service for mechanical

neighboring parts involved) by hand or lathe / grinder / mill, instead of ordering and replacing the faulty part.
